We work with like-minded mission boards in a cooperative manner that recognizes the unique capabilities of GDMMissions to identify, prepare, send, and support field medical missionaries.
First, we are one of a few dental and medical mission board that holds all of its staff and missionaries to a sound, fundamental doctrinal position. With that in mind, we welcome referrals from other fundamental mission boards that have candidates who wish to serve as medical missionaries. Sometimes the initial emphasis of a new medical missionary is on establishing a medical clinic or other base in a new country and we have the experience and infrastructure geared to make this happen. In the case of a missionary family where the husband has pastoral/evangelism responsibilities and the wife has medical/nursing responsibilities we will work with a mission board to help develop the medical side of the missionary team.
Second, we will refer missionaries to other mission boards when approached by a candidate wishing to be a missionary who does not fit into the dental or medical profession field.
Finally, we will work with other mission boards in establishing medical clinics or taking on larger projects that have both evangelistic and medical missions components. This may involve establishing a medical clinic or hospital in a country where another mission board is well-established. Or, it could include expeditionary missions in new countries or regions where a medical presence could serve as an initial foothold before sending missionaries for church planting.
